I started a new approach to getting back to the body I had today. I followed a food & exercise plan(below). It was a good day! I woke up motivated. I left little post it notes around my alarm, sink and mirror that had words of encouragement on them. Fun Fact: I worked in the hay field for the first time ever today! I carried bails and stacked. It was hard work, but it ended up being a great evening exercise!

Monday
Breakfast:
1 cup Honey Bunches of Oats with milk
Lunch:
Oikos Greek yogurt
1 slice of wheat bread with peanut butter
banana
water
Snack:
1 slice Italian bread(my great grandma practically forced me to eat it!)
apple
Dinner:
5 all natural chicken nuggets
1 cup of mixed veggies
In place of a dessert/night time snack:
strawberry smoothie
consists of:
1/2 cup fit dannon vanilla yogurt
5 sliced strawberries
1 tbsp flaxseed
8 spinach leaves
1/4 cup milk
as much ice as you want

As for working out, I made it my goal to do high intensity cardio and abs 3 times a week (MWF) and 1-2 mile jogs on Tuesdays and Thursdays

So this morning I woke up and did-
Jillian Micheals Shred it With Weights Kettlebell workout (30 minutes)
which was awesomely hard but felt like a huge accomplishment when I finished it
Ab Ripper X (15 minutes)
this was a great way to top off the first video. I could feel every muscle in my stomach working hard!
Good Stretch
I'm trying to stay really flexible for A&T, plus it helps keep muscles healthy and prevents injury(much needed!)

I planned on working out again this evening but I volunteered to work in the hay field instead. Which, let me tell you, was a great workout!!

I'm feeling better about myself! Every little positive action creates positive thoughts in my mind.

I'm challenging you right now to join me in my journey- get fit & stay classy!!

My Story

Me-summer before Senior year 142lbs.

Homecoming King & Queen senior yr.

2nd month of college-137 pounds
broken thumb-horrible cast

knee brace decorated for Christmas party-2011

Me at heaviest-Spring 2012 aka depressed me
My handsome boyfriend and me in June of 2012 aka happy again

So I decided to give everyone access to who exactly I am. And who doesn't love a good personal story?! So here it goes...Throughout high school, life was great. I was involved with Student Council, Pep Club, and Honor Society. And as an athlete, I was a co-captain of the cheerleading team all four years, a member of the track team, and one of the few female weightlifters. I had a busy life, but I thrived off of the precise schedules and deadlines that I had. Did I mention I dated the same guy all four years? Haha. Yep, he played football, was cute, had muscles AND brains, and was known as the sweetest guy around. I also had a car, a black 1993 Trans Am. I am 5'6" and never weighed more than 143 lbs. That sounds like a lot but truthfully I was all muscle. Looking back, I had a terrific life. Not saying it isn't terrific now, because it is, it's just a different kind of terrific. My senior year was the absolute dream year. My competition cheerleading team won the regional competition(one of the hardest in the state)and advanced to state competition a month later, my boyfriend and I were voted Homecoming King & Queen, I made exceptional grades, I was named female athlete of the year, I won 2nd in my weightlifting competition. Let's just say, it was amazing! God blessed me with more than I had ever dreamed of. Then college came. I chose the school that I had known I was going to attend since the age of 8, and while my best friend chose the same school, my boyfriend didn't. He was offered a scholarship to play football at another school. Honestly, I was devastated. We decided to become a long distance couple and face the struggle. But you'll hear more about that later. So then school started. I was rooming with my best friend and I made the Acrobatics & Tumbling Team. The first time my team met to stunt and mingle before our actual practice, I based a girl who hadn't flown a lot, and broke my thumb!!!! To the hospital I went, before my first college class I had broken a bone. I had to wear a cast for 2 days then I was put in a cast-like brace so I couldn't move my thumb. It just happened to be my right hand, so I had to interpret my own chicken scratches and ask others to make copies of notes for me. Although it was unfortunate, it helped me meet a lot of people because guys were always offering to carry my lunch tray(I physically couldn't), books, and everyone I saw asked me what happened! haha.Even with the brace, I was constantly in the gym. Twice a day plus practice with my team. I lost 7 pounds the first month and a half of school. I was down to 136 lbs which was awesome. Then I got sick one week. Sharp aches attacked my body and I couldn't get over the total exhaustion I was feeling. Turns out I had shingles. SHINGLES!? Like the thing that my great-grandma gets?? haha. Yep, I had it and it was miserable. I was forced to stay in my hard twin size dorm bed for 9 days and take horse size pills. So a month later, I got my brace off and started tumbling/practicing again and guess what..BAM. I tore my mcl in my left knee. Crazy, right?? I could barely walk without extreme pain and it was hard to walk around my dorm and campus with crutches and a huge brace -____- I was miserable, I could lift dumbells with my arms and do crunches but I couldn't run, jump, squat, or exercise like I was used to. This went on for 9 weeks and I had to slowly move back in to my sport and exercising. By this time, I was depressed. I couldn't take being alone in a concrete room, unable to exercise or see my boyfriend more than once a week or every two weeks. I wasn't even myself anymore. I cried myself to sleep at night and prayed for the school year to end. I had gained back the weight I lost at the beginning of the year plus 7 more. I had never felt so alone and miserable(with my body) in my life. The last month of school I moved in with my grandparents(close to college) because my dorm room and car were attacked with paintballs, courtesy of my roommate's boyfriend, and I practically lived alone(best friend ditched me/our room for her man's house-he never was very good to her so I wanted her to be careful but I was turned into the bossy friend that tried to run her life-friendship faded away-i'm still getting over it, she wants nothing to do with me) but anyway..that was my freshman year. I didn't gain 15 pounds but I gained 7 which was bad enough. Summer started, I moved back home, got a babysitting job and things began to fall back into place. My long distance relationship survived it's first year and we were able to see each other almost every day again(heaven!!). We are truly best friends and that year made our love stronger. I started hitting the weightroom hard like my high school days and I followed the workout booklet our strength coach at college gave us. I gained more muscle and lost 2 pounds but nothing else will come off. So that's what this blog is going to be about, my journey to shed 10 pounds by October and keep it off all year. So if you've been interested or patient enough to read all of my story, I guess this catches us up to now. Where I am 148 pounds, 2 weeks away from being in a wedding, and 3 weeks away from starting my sophomore year of college. I have lots of goals for my body before these events arrive so it's time to get started!! Next post will be my get fit plan..stay classy folks :) Love & God Bless

Who, What, Where & Why

Hello readers..that is, if there are any. Haha!
I am new to the blogging world so it's going to take some time to adjust and get this blog exactly where I want it! I'll start by introducing myself: I'm Allison. I come from a small town (no, we don't even have a stop light), I'm a college student majoring in Nursing, and I'm also an athlete. I am a member of the Acrobatics & Tumbling team at my university. I started this blog mainly to help keep myself stay on track with my fitness plan, but also to reach my short & long term goals, and to share/connect with anyone that can enjoy or relate.
